Itinerary

And the trip begins! On reaching your designation check into the place you are staying whether it’s a hotel, camp or a resort. Get freshen up and enjoy your lunch and take some rest for an hour or two. In the evening witness the divinity of the Ganga Aarti and engross yourself with thousands other devotees as you experience this spectacular prayer service. Next, you can explore the market area and some amazing café’s of Rishikesh. Reach your hotel/camp, have some dinner and sleep in cosily as the journey has only started.

Before your breakfast, get ready to witness the exquisitely amazing sunrise at Kunjapuri Temple. It is an uphill trek that will take approximately one hour. And the insane views that you get upon reaching there are worthy of every effort the trek takes. Then have some breakfast at your hotel and get ready for the rest of the day. If you want some spice of adventure in your day the go forward for some crazy rafting experience. Or if you are looking for some calm and serene vibes then you can surely visit the Ganga beach to meditate or just relax. Check back in your camp or hotel to have some lunch and rest. For those camping ,in the evening enjoy bonfire and snacks. Have some dinner and get a good night’s sleep as we still have a lot to cover.

If you want you can take a small hike to river Ganga or a trek before your breakfast. Next you can visit the Bungee jumping complex to get some adrenaline rushing through you. And after that to relax your body visit the sparkling waterfalls of Rishikesh. (You can also enjoy some chaat and lassi near the ghat .) Check into your hotel ,have some dinner and relax.

The last day in this beautiful city. Have your breakfast and check out of your hotel. Before leaving for your hometown you can visit the Beatles Ashram and enjoy the amazing art work there.

Weather

  • September, October – mornings and evenings are pleasant, day temperature can be as high as 32 degree Centigrade.
  • November to March – mornings and evenings are cooler with December and January the coldest months. Day time temperatures are pleasant.
  • April – June – Mornings and evenings are pleasant. Day temperature is quite high. Places near rivers and waterfalls are recommended to pass the day time.
  • July and August – Time to grab a book, sip some coffee and enjoy the pleasant and cool weather with little humidity and lots of rainfall and clouds.

How to reach Rishikesh

  • By road – Delhi to Rishikesh is around 250 km. Self drive vehicles, cabs, overnight volvo take 6-7 hours to reach Rishikesh. The road is a national highway 58 and is maintained by NHAI. Some stretches of this section are busy due to local towns and traffic.
  • By train – Rishikesh has a railway station but there are no direct trains from Delhi. The nearest railway station is Haridwar and has several trains from Delhi. Haridwar to Rishikesh is only 30 km which can be done in local transport buses, private cabs, or autos.
  • By air – Jolly grant airport, Dehradun is only 25 km away from Rishikesh.

Other places nearby which can be done in one day

  • Kunjapuri temple – Situated 30 km from Rishikesh, Kunjapuri temple can be reached by a trek of 2 km. Sunrises and Sunsets are not to be missed at Kunjapuri temple.
  • Neelkanth temple – Neelkanth temple is 30 km from Rishikesh and is a famous lord Shiva temple. The ride to the temple is quite scenic.
  • Devprayag – Devprayag is a holy town where the River Ganges is formed after the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. It is 75 km from RIshikesh.
  • Tehri Dam – The highest hydroelectric dam in India, is located 85 km from Rishikesh. A number of water sports adventure activities such as jet skiing, kayaking, etc. can be done at the dam.

Packing

What you need to bring will vary according to the trip style you have chosen, the places you are visiting and when you are traveling. Generally speaking, we recommend you pack as lightly as possible and make sure that you are able to carry and lift your own luggage, and walk with it for short distances or up or down a flight of stairs. Our travelers usually find the smaller their luggage is, the more they enjoy the trip without having to worry about carrying heavy bags! Aim to keep your main luggage under 15kg.

You’ll also need a day pack/bag to carry water, camera, swimming suit, hiking shoes and jacket etc. when you’re exploring during the day.
